Ascophyllum nodosum/Knotted Wrack
Ascophyllum Nodosum (knotted wrack) is a marine, macroscopic brown algae that can grow up to 1.8 metres in length. The individually arranged air bladders are a typical feature. Their brown coloring comes from fucoxanthin pigments, which cover the green chlorophyll. All parts of the algae can be used. It can be found on the coastlines of temperate regions along the coasts of the northern Atlantic Ocean.
