Pistachionut Oil

Pistachionut Oil is obtained from the seeds of the pistachio tree. The seeds are greenish, three-sided and measure approx. 20 cm in length. Pistacia Vera is a deciduous tree that grows 2-4 metres high. It has pinnate leaves and deep roots. Because it can survive with little water, it is ideal for dry and desert-like regions. The seeds have a fatty oil content of 50-58 % and have a mild, aromatic flavour. Pistachio trees are primarily grown in Iran, the United States and Turkey.

Cosmetics

  • Check Icon
The oil’s characteristic balance of mono- and polyunsaturated fatty acids makes it an excellent choice for cosmetic formulas.
  • Check Icon
Because it is high in linoleic acid (omega-6, C18:2), Pistachionut Oil contributes to ceramide synthesis and consequently to regenerative processes in the skin. This improves the skin’s ability to retain water, thus reducing Transepidermal Water Loss (TEWL).
  • Check Icon
The oleic acid (omega-9, C18:1) in Pistachionut Oil has a fluidising effect on the membranes of skin cells, thus making it easier for cosmetic active ingredients to penetrate deeply into the skin.
  • Check Icon
Because of its moisturising effect, Pistachionut Oil is very well suited for use in sunscreen and after-sun products, as an emollient and in nail care products.
  • Check Icon
The composition of Pistachionut Oil is similar to that of Almond Oil.
