Cholesterol

Cholesterol

Cholesterol is a natural substance found in animal cells, where it is the most common sterol. Plants do not contain cholesterol. Cholesterol is a vital component of cell membranes and an important precursor for the biosynthesis of hormones and bile acids. It is also essential for embryonic development. Cholesterol is water-insoluble and is transported through the body to cells with the help of lipoproteins in the blood. During the production process, cholesterol is extracted from lanolin, and then refined.
