Market Report September 2025

On equal terms – based on experience

Transparency and quality are the result of personal dialogue on equal terms – we have been convinced of this for 100 years. When we are out in the field or in production somewhere in the world, we can talk on equal terms out of our own experience as manufacturer – for example, in the case of organic broccoli seed oil: We source the seeds from Germany or Italy and press them in our oil mill in Bremen. If you are interested in oil from fresh production, please contact your representative at our company.

Vegetable oils

Rapeseed prices are moving sideways against the backdrop of farmers not (yet) being prepared to sell their seeds at the current market price after a very good harvest. Future developments will depend largely on whether farmers’ liquidity needs or mills’ seed requirements for fulfilling sales contracts are stronger. We recommend waiting and observing the market. Sunflower seeds from the old harvest remain scarce and expensive; orders should be placed as soon as possible if required. The forecasts for the upcoming harvest are good. It remains to be seen whether this will lead to the widely hoped-for price drop – the situation is expected to be similar to the current one for rapeseed in terms of a lack of willingness on the part of farmers to sell. Hope and speculation are keeping soybean prices high, despite a very good harvest in Brazil and US production exceeding expectations. Demand is shifting to the cheaper rapeseed. The EU market is also burdened by the ongoing uncertainties surrounding the EU Deforestation Regulation.

In the organic sector, there is a tense calm – farmers are focused on the harvest, which is eagerly awaited, especially for qualities certified according to organic association standards. However, certainty about quality and quantity will only be available in a few weeks’ time. The market for organic rapeseed is likely to remain undersupplied. The greater yield risk compared to conventional cultivation is increasingly disproportionate to the higher costs involved. Purchases from Africa or Ukraine will have to contribute to meeting demand. The latest estimates for EU organic sunflower production assume lower EU production, partly due to unfavourable weather conditions in south-eastern Europe. Organic soy market participants are fluctuating between hope and uncertainty due to the lack of a clear picture of future supply.

Palm RSPO
With prices currently moving sideways, a decline in demand is expected, among other things after the major buyers have replenished their stocks. We recommend securing coverage until the end of Q4 at maximum.

Palmkernel RSPO
Oil prices are moving sideways to upwards. Production problems at source and uncertainty about sufficient stocks there are supporting prices. Coverage until the end of the year is recommended.

Conventional coconut, including Rainforest Alliance-certified qualities
Good weather conditions in the growing regions are putting pressure on prices. The supply of raw materials to mills at source has improved. Quantities for Q4 and partial quantities for Q1/2026 should be covered.

Organic coconut, refined
Stable harvest figures are meeting with good demand, which is reflected in largely flat price levels.

Organic coconut, pressed
The seasonal months with higher harvests are over in some growing regions. High demand for coconut products is supporting prices. We recommend covering quantities up to and including Q1/2026.

Apricot kernel
In one of the world’s main apricot growing regions in Turkey, severe frost in April caused drastic crop failures. Forecasts predict that harvest yields will be halved in 2025. As entire trees were destroyed in addition to the blossoms, supply chains will experience shortages beyond 2025. Thanks to forward planning in the industry, stocks are well filled so far. Prices are rising only slowly. As shortages increase, price effects will be clearly noticeable from the end of 2025 to the beginning of 2026. We therefore recommend that you cover your long-term needs now.

Organic broccoli seed
We offer organic broccoli seed oil sourced from Germany and Italy, freshly pressed at our oil mill in Bremen – popular as a natural silicone substitute in natural cosmetics, among other things. If you are interested, please contact your representative at our company.

Carnauba
With low to non-existent stocks among exporters, rain is delaying the current harvest in Brazil, which requires absolutely dry conditions. Persistent rain has a negative impact on harvest quantity and quality. In the past, this has resulted in significant price effects. It is speculative where the market will stabilise in conjunction with the effects of possible US import tariffs. We have therefore secured goods at attractive prices and recommend long-term coverage well into 2026.

Almonds
The market has picked up slightly in recent weeks, and this trend is expected to continue, partly due to tariffs. We have placed orders in advance and are able to deliver at attractive prices. Please feel free to contact us.

MCT
With the exception of MCT 100% coconut, which is virtually sold out, availability in Europe is good. Offers from 2026 onwards are subject to price surcharges due to uncertainties surrounding the EUDR (EU Deforestation Regulation), which will apply to palmkernel fatty acids required for MCT when imported. We recommend covering palmkernel-based qualities until the end of the year and, for coconut-based grades, partial coverage into Q1/2026, if available.

Olive
The current high demand is preventing prices from falling. We recommend only covering necessary quantities, assuming that market expectations of falling prices from the beginning of 2026 will be fulfilled.

Rice germ and gamma oryzanol
A new supplier has successfully completed our comprehensive qualification processes. We are pleased to announce new framework conditions for the products, including a low MOSH/MOAH quality for rice germ oil. Please contact us if you are interested.

Sesame
Despite rising exports over the last six months, the Indian sesame seed market has remained stable to date. Further increases in demand could push up prices, so we recommend covering your needs until the end of the year.

Maritime products

Marine oil, omega-3, Friend of the Sea or MarinTrust
In Peru, explorations are underway for Fishing Season II, with a decision on the start date and catch quotas expected around mid-October. With overall market activity low, prices have risen slightly from a low base level in recent weeks. Some qualities are in limited supply. We recommend taking advantage of the favourable market situation for long-term contracts where available.
