Vegetable oils
The dominant themes in markets characterised by uncertainty and nervousness are the weather and the war in Iran. Rapeseed from the old crop is in short supply and expensive, yet there is a demand. Initial offers for the new crop are currently relatively reasonable. Weather conditions and a pick-up in demand from the biodiesel industry could quickly change the situation. Sunflower remains at high levels despite the availability of old-crop stock from 2025, driven by the strength of competing oils. The new crop is also rated highly, based on assumptions of unfavourable weather conditions in parts of Europe in the future. Soybean prices are drawing their strength from geopolitical developments surrounding the Iran conflict. Minimal price movements are keeping the market calm.

Palm RSPO
The market is volatile. Demand from the biodiesel sector remains consistently high, whilst other major buyers are currently holding back due to healthy stock levels. Factors supporting prices include high crude oil prices and the expectation of severe drought in growing regions during the second half of the year as a result of a pronounced El Niño. It is advisable to secure supplies up to and including Q3.

Coconut
Thanks to increased stocks of copra at source, the availability of oil is also rising significantly. Demand is currently limited to the spot months, which remain stable. We recommend that you cover your requirements up to the end of Q3; price adjustments may still occur for later delivery dates.

Palmkernel RSPO
Demand remains subdued and is concentrated on the spot months, as prices are expected to fall further. We recommend hedging until the end of Q3 and monitoring the market closely.

MCT
The market continues to be buoyed by the limited availability of C8 and C10 fatty acids, as well as a severe shortage of glycerine. Some coconut-based grades are in extremely short supply. According to the European Commission’s proposal for the Anti-Deforestation Regulation, the so-called EUDR simplification package, palm kernel-based MCT grades are also set to fall under the EUDR from 2027, which would trigger additional demand for coconut-based grades. We recommend securing supplies in advance until the end of the year where possible. Note: If you are interested in switching to a different grade, please reach out to your contact person at Henry Lamotte Oils.

GLA – evening primrose, borage, perilla and black currant
The current situation is favourable for longer-term contracts, with stable markets, good availability and competitive prices. Lead times must be taken into account in planning.

Jojoba and organic jojoba
The harvests are drawing to a close. With demand remaining stable and strong, there is a sufficient supply of conventional pressed oil. Pressed organic oils, on the other hand, are in high demand, particularly from the USA. Market shortages are now expected in the foreseeable future. We advise you to review your requirements until the end of 2026 and ensure they are met without delay.

Pumpkin and organic pumpkin
The price gap between organic and conventional qualities is widening further. Conventional grades remains largely stable and readily available, with demand being consistently high. In the organic sector, it is advisable to secure the required quantities well in advance.

Linseed
Kazakhstan is set to consolidate its position as the EU’s leading supplier of linseed oil this season. Sowing is progressing well, amongst others thanks to favourable weather conditions. Prices in the market are currently stable. We press the oil at our own oil mill in Bremen. Stock is available; please do not hesitate to contact us regarding your requirements.

Almond
Demand is currently stable to slightly declining, with Asia increasing its imports. Yields for the 2026 harvest are currently expected to be slightly below last year’s levels. Due to the war in Iran, farmers must factor in higher fuel and fertiliser costs. We recommend covering requirements up to Q1 2027 to pre-empt price rises, harvest risks and high Asian demand.

Olive
We are seeing a quiet market with cautious demand, adequate stock levels and stable producer prices. Flowering has been very good in Spain so far, now the fruit set development is under observation. Weather-related uncertainties, particularly in connection with El Niño, remain to be seen. Greece is under pressure due to a below-average harvest and high costs, whilst Italy remains a premium market. We recommend securing short- and medium-term requirements.

Shea and organic shea
The supply situation for refined organic and handcrafted grades has eased. Slightly falling raw material prices are having only a minor impact due to higher refining and freight costs. We see this as a favourable time to secure long-term coverage until the arrival of the new harvest in Europe in Q1 2027, particularly for organic grades. Any adverse weather conditions, e.g. triggered by the expected El Niño, could drive prices higher in the future.

Grapeseed
Extremely attractive prices, coupled with a very good Italian harvest, are now boosting demand. We recommend securing the required quantities by the end of 2026.
Wool fats and vegan alternatives

Adeps Lanae (lanolin)
The market is stabilising at a very high level, due to the scarcity of raw wool and the resulting high prices. Furthermore, wool scouring is becoming increasingly concentrated among a small number of large companies, which makes price negotiations for wool grease even more difficult. We recommend securing supplies until the end of 2026. Please also consider our attractively priced plant-based alternative, Vegalan, which has a short lead time of 3–4 weeks.
Marine products

Marine Oil, omega-3, Friend of the Sea or MarinTrust
The 2026–I fishing season in Peru is proving challenging amid the first signs of El Niño. Catch volumes and oil yields remain low, the proportion of juvenile fish is high, and the warm oceanographic conditions are intensifying. Under these circumstances, the fishing season could be brought to a premature close. We therefore ask you to contact your designated contact person at our company as soon as possible to discuss your requirements.

Salmon
The supply situation is challenging, with availability ranging from severely limited to non-existent. The unexpectedly poor anchovy catches in Peru are leading to substitution effects. Prices – where available – are valid for a very short period only. Please contact your designated contact person at our company immediately to discuss your requirements.
Oleoresins

Paprika
Fewer sweet pepper plants were planted this year, mainly due to poor profitability in 2025. Stable prices are forecast for the ample carry-over stocks. We advise covering requirements up to the end of February 2027; for contracts beyond that date, we recommend waiting for the harvest estimate for autumn 2027.
